If you haven't seen the show, the picture on the left are Quinn and Finn (two of the show's main characters). Quinn is pregnant but not with Finn's baby. She convinced him that it was his baby even though they never had sex.
After weeks and weeks of trying to keep it a secret, Quinn's parents finally found out that she's pregnant when Finn was over for dinner and started singing "You're Having My Baby" before desert.
Quinn is the 'president' of the celibacy club and is regarded by her parents, especially her dad, as having high moral fibre. BUT - she got pregnant at her tender teenage life.
Her dad kicks her out of the house and her mom doesn't do anything to stop it. Quinn's plea to her parents is to 'just hold her and tell her that everything's going to be ok'.
Glee is set in Ohio (i guess part of the heartland of conservative America), they had to show an intolerant dad with a repressed mom who follows every whim of the 'man' of the house. This is in direct juxtaposition of another character of the show, a flaming gay teen, who is freely accepted by his single-dad.
It's interesting that there's so many dad-types on the show:
1. teenage dad
2. liberal single dad who accepts his only's son sexual orientation
3. conservative dad who kicks out his daughter the moment he realizes she isn't perfect
4. soon-to-be dad who is expecting an imaginary child
Wouldn't have expected all these dad types to show up from a high school tv musical about a show choir.
